A humorous flippant joke led to a serious career move and ended up becoming a life long passion for story telling. That sums up my writing career, spanning two decades and which has led to the beginning of a brand new blog on Life itself.
It all began in 1991, when my newly- wed husband jokingly remarked that journalism and not copy writing suited me the most because during our courtship, I had written “so many super- lengthy love letters” to him.
Taking that advice led me on a path to become an investigative business journalist with India’s leading national English daily, The Times of India (TOI).
With a national presence and a circulation of two million, TOI was a place where I thrived, breaking many investigative stories in India’s corporate world. At the top of the game, some stories even prohibited questionable companies from entering the Indian stock exchange with their public offerings.
After more than a decade in India, we migrated to Toronto and which led me to television working for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) and a columnist for a leading chain of newspapers. The writing spectrum now encompassed politics, real estate, and even advertising.
This Blog started after an insistent husband and a very dear friend in Canada insisted I bring my vast experience and combine that with the elements of storytelling to tell stories on Life -- in any sphere.
The blog will cover experiences in story telling fashion--- of people, places, moments and even issues surrounding the day but it also will bring much more -- events that have shaped people or continue to do so.
